Click on the "Audio" tab above to hear samples of each transformer. The sonic differences between them are very subtle, but when radio signals or other interference are present, the higher-priced transformers will exhibit less noise. The main difference between the transformers is their noise immunity. The Kludge So, we’re going to take a totally different approach because building something on the bench with off-the-shelf parts makes it impossible to use special purpose transformers. We're proud to offer two USA-made transformer options: the FE-X1 wound for us and the legendary Cinemag CM-DBX. Figure 1: The Kludge reamplifier box uses lumped-sum elements. The FE2's output section features a Neutrik XLR jack and ground lift switch for eliminating hum. We shootout out two of Radials reamp boxes, the JCR and the ProRMP. The ART Dual RDB reamping DI box lets you take line signals and convert them to mic and. The amp, or "SPKR," mode is great for recording old guitar and bass amps without line outputs. The FE2's studio-quality electronics are housed in an architectural aluminum enclosure that's rugged enough for the road. Ease of Use: 9 Features 9. Don’t use an amp, reamp into a DI box, and continue to use the amp sim (the reamp processing just runs through pedals) If you did want to use an amp, you just want something that has a reasonable ratio of being very clean that can hit the sweet spot in terms of pushing the amp while not being absolutely painfully loud. I see several on the market now but haven't used one yet.Build your own boutique passive direct box. resistive systems aren't the only considerations to make when it comes to choosing the best attenuator for you.

And i am hoping to do a bit of that too, but the main part of my plan is to then go out of my computer and into a reamp box and back into my pedal board & tube amp, so i don't need to "simulate" the sound of an old tube amp, i'll actually be using one and don't want the amp models to conflict with my actual amp sound. I realize that most want models because they are trying to recreate the miked amp sound when recording right to tape or hard disk. However, i want to be able to go direct without any coloration at all, and want to be able to turn off any amp models, fake or real tubes, or cab simulations. What i need is to go directly into a mixer & computer interface with my guitar, which, of course is a common thing nowadays. But i am not sure what i should get as my needs may be atypical.
